James "Jim" David Travis, 81 of Terre Haute and formerly of Hickory, NC passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024.  He was born in the town of Hickory, NC on September 1, 1943 to Frank and Agnes (Vanhorn) Travis.  Jim was a Vietnam veteran who served honorably in the U.S. Army and received a Purple Heart.  He was an avid antique collector and loved being at his upholstery shop in Prairieton, IN.  He loved spending time with his wife, Vanessa, and playing with his grandkids.  He enjoyed going to drag races and car shows. Jim was also a big Carolina Panthers fan and enjoyed watching them play every Sunday.

Jim is survived by his wife Vanessa Travis of Terre Haute, IN, son Matt (Laura) Travis, granddaughter Kaitlyn Travis, grandson Carson Travis all of San Antonio, TX, and brother Stewart (Wilma) Travis of Hickory, NC.  He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Vernon and Agnes Lorean Travis, brothers Charles Travis, Richard Travis, and Bill Travis, sisters Dathine Davis (Travis), and Margie Price (Travis), and his 4-legged daughter, Peaches Travis.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the DeBaun Springhill Chapel.  Pastor Larry Branham will officiate.  The family will welcome visitors from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
