JAMES G. CRANE, 86, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and friend Thursday February 9, 2017 afternoon. He was born April 15, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Pope and Frieda Crane. Loving father survived by children Mark Crane (Teena) of Milton, DE, Vickie Shew (Franklin) of Terre Haute, IN, and Kevin Crane of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Melissa Gropp-Roach (Nathan), Brian Gropp, Dustin Crane (Adrianna), Lauren Johnson (Christopher), and Nathan Shew; and great-grandchildren Simon, Conner, Gabriel, Isaac, Addison, Nina, Lily, and Piper. He was survived by brother Alvin "Leroy" and preceded in death by his parents; sisters Elizabeth "Libby", Charlotte "Ski", Helen "Sissy" and brother Raymond. James attained the rank of Master Sergeant and retired from the Indiana Air National Guard as an air technician and master parachute rigger with 35 years service and served as a guardsman for an additional 3 years. After retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his family, and was an avid Yankees fan.
