James Stanley Cox, Sr., 82, of Paris, Illinois passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026.  He was born to Joseph Cox and Mary (Smith) Cox on December 9, 1943 in New Goshen, Indiana.

James is preceded in death by both of his parents; brothers, Marshall, Don, Bob, Richard, and Joe; infant daughter, Cathy Jo Cox; sisters Esther, Ann, Virginia, Loretta, and Thelma; daughter Lynn (Harry) Long; and companion, Patricia Strandage.

James is survived by his children, James S. Cox, Jr., Debbie Cox (Charles), Donna Wilson (Kevin); grandchildren, Merry Higar (Trent), Melinda Cravens (Morgan), Mark Pierce (Stephanie), Amanda Pierce, Abby Cox, Lewis Cox, Becky Shell, and John Vowell; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for James will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The family has asked to please consider making a donation in order to help with funeral service costs.  Donations and online donations may be made at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
