James Allen
Cheesman
April 14, 1943 – December 19, 2024
James Allen Cheesman, 81, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on December 19th in Terre Haute. Jim, as he was better known, was born to Howard and Thelma Cheesman on April 14, 1943.
Jim graduated from Casey High School, Casey, Illinois, with the class of 1962.
After graduation, he attended and completed a program in electronics at DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois.
He married Anita Finley on December 21, 1962. Throughout his life, he was a master at different jobs: automotive mechanic; owner of his own television, satellite, and tower business; and was employed at WTWO. He then became a dedicated driver for Dorsett Dealership. He earned his pilot's license and enjoyed flying in his plane. He and Anita enjoyed many cycle trips on their Gold Wing motorcycle. In the planting and harvesting days, he could be found helping his father-in-law, Harold Finley.
Jim was a people person. His caring and giving personality gained him the respect and friendship of many.
Jim will be missed by his wife, Anita; his son Michael (his friend Sandy and her son Derek); his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Ruth Ann Finley; his three nephews and his eleven great nephews and nieces; and his many friends who loved him. He was always thinking of others.
During this time of grieving, we can take comfort in the wonderful memories of a man who cared and loved deeply. Our lives are better for having Jim as a part of them.
