James Russell Bogard, 84 of Terre Haute, passed away at 9:07 PM on Monday, June 20, 2016 in his residence. He was born in Terre Haute on October 6, 1931 to Russell O. Bogard and Wilma Witty Bogard. James was an Insurance Agent and Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was a member of West Terre Haute Masonic Lodge # 687 F & AM. He enjoyed photography, dealing in antiques, and was an avid IU fan, but most of all, family was very important to him. He is survived by his son, James Burke Bogard (Pat), and two daughters, Paula Steinmetz and Susan Flynn, and son-in-law Mark Card. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Steven Strom (Rhonda), Susan Strom, and Josh Card and great grandchildren; Olivia Finley, Dalton Strom, Tayla Bills, and Landon Card, and his cat Sammy. He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, James Robert Strom. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are made to the U.S.O., in his memory. Arrangements are under the direction of DeBaun Funeral Home & Crematory.
