Ira E. Smith, WWII Army Veteran, passed on May 17, 2019.  Ira was born October 2, 1925 in Vigo County to Ira and Cecil Smith.  He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Alta Mae.  They have 5 children—Verna (Don) Burk, Kathy Lewton, Jan Cole, Dave (Nina) Smith and Angie Smith, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a brother Kenny and cousin, Nina and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mildred, brother, Howard, and son-in-law, Dave Cole.  Known as Smitty, he worked for Pfizer for 37 years.  He enjoyed woodworking, flea markets and traveling.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Roselawn Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m.  Reverend Jeff Lee will be officiating.  Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
