Obituary

Ioma Walton, 94, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday September 14, 2017 at 6:05 am in Meadows Manor East. She worked for many years at the ISU Bookstore. Ioma was born January 19, 1923 in West Terre Haute to Marion Yocum and Ruth (Darby) Yocum. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Christjansen (Mark) of Terre Haute; a son, Jack Lawson (Susan) of West Terre Haute; grandchildren, Annette Thom, Denise Morgan, Scott Crabb, Jon Christjansen, Matt Christjansen, Ben Christjansen, Tracy Overstreet, James Lawson, and Danny Johnson; great grandchildren, Daniel, Amos, Jessica, Sara, Corynn, Kaelyn, Logan, Desmond, Joshua, Jeremia, Sharon, James, James, Haley, Leif, and Nathaniel; a sister, Letha Haywood; special friend, Lisa Anderson and Gary and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Lawson and her second husband Norval Walton and several brothers and sisters. Ioma was a member of the First Assembly of God in West Terre Haute and she played the bass with the joyful Sounds Orchestra and played the acoustic guitar and sang at the nursing home. Visitation will be Monday September 18, 2017 from 12 noon until 2:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Reverend Randy Smith officiating.
