Iluminada de Gala Sison peacefully passed away June 19, 2013, at the age of 105 surrounded by her loved ones. Lovingly known by everyone as "Mama," she was born on June 15, 1908, in Candelaria Quezon, Philippines, and moved to Terre Haute, Ind., in 1968, where she has lived since. She is preceded in death by: parents, Generoso and Emilia de Gala; children, Dr. Vincent Sison, Norma Sison, Cesar Sison, Celso Sison, and Genie Sison; brothers, Jose de Gala and Jacinto dela Rosa; sister-in-law, Socorro de Gala; nephew, Navarro de Gala; grandsons, Jose de Gala and Sidney Sison; great-niece, Sari Santiago; and great-grandson, David Manlove. She is survived by three children, Elvira Carandang, Oscar Sison, and Nelia Sison; sister-in-law, Ruperta dela Rosa; daughter-in-laws, Dr. Rose Sison, Amor Sison and Estelita Sison; a multitude of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at DeBaun Funeral Homes, 85 E. Springhill Drive, Terre Haute, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013. A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar St., Terre Haute, at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013, followed by final burial at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gift donations to be sent in the name of Iluminada Sison to the American Cancer Society.
