Helen Sparks, formerly of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, June 28 in Mansfield Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ansel, in 1974. She is survived by her son, Donald, daughter-in-law, Cindy, and granddaughter, Kayla of Mansfield, Texas, cousin, Helen Jeffers of Cory, Indiana, step-daughter Mariam Patton of St. John?s, Michigan, and step-grandchildren Linda Patton, Mary Beth Moldenhauer, and Tom Patton, all of Michigan. Helen was a member of Terre Haute?s United Methodist Temple. Helen lived in Terre Haute for the first 91 years of her life, moving to Texas in late 2010 to be closer to her son and his family. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, she worked as an administrative assistant at Terre Haute Mutual Savings and Loan (later Mutual Federal) on two separate occasions and volunteered more than 10 years at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in her later years. Visitation for Helen will be on Wednesday, July 3 at DeBaun Funeral Home, 85 East Springhill Drive, Terre Haute from 12-2 P.M., followed by a graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park at 3 P.M. Reverend Curtis Chambers will officiate. Helen was a dog lover, so, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LUCKY FUND at the Mansfield Animal Shelter, 407 Industrial Blvd., Mansfield, Texas, 76063 or to a shelter or rescue group in your community.
