Harold Eugene Summers, 88, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 16, 2020.  He was born August 23, 1931 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Lester and Robey (Bays) Summer Sr.  Harold enlisted with the National Guard before serving in the United States Air Force and Army during the Korean War.  Harold was formerly employed by Midland Glass Company.  His favorite pastime was buying and trading collectables and he had a great love for children as well as animals.  Harold spent the last months of his life in the care of The Waters of Greencastle.  He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Lester Jr.; 2 sisters, Hester and Clara; and long-time companion, Shirley Salyers.  Harold is survived by one half-sister, Linda Manwaring; 2 sons, Richard and Harold Jr; 1 step-son, Clifford Salyers; 2 step-daughters, Becky (Tim) Harris and Patty Rentschler; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.  A celebration of life will be scheduled for family at a later date.  Donations can be made in memoriam to AVETS.
