Gracie Marie Slavens Chambers, 89 of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:11 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Regional Hospital. She was born in Terre Haute on December 9, 1926 to William Slavens and Martha Nevins Slavens. Gracie was a retired cook from St. Mary of the Woods and a member of Bible Holiness Church. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Hastings, and three sons, Thomas Richard Chambers, Timothy Dale Chambers (wife Dorothy), and William J. "Joe" Chambers (wife Rosann). Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Richard Chambers on August 15, 1998, a daughter-in-law, Antoinette "Toni" Chambers, a son-in-law, James Hastings, grandson Jimmy Hastings, and 10 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Wendell Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
