Gilbert P. Williams, 91, of Terre Haute died August 17, 2021 at the residence of his daughter.  He was born October 29, 1929 to James and Pearl (Hughes) Williams.  He was retired from Novelis, formerly Anaconda Aluminum/Alcan.  Mr. Williams had been a longtime member of Terre Haute Moose #1009 and Eagles Lodge Aerie 291.  He was preceded in death by a son, James Williams, brothers John Williams and Albert Williams who was killed in WW2.  He also was preceded by a sister Frances Cassidy.  He is survived by a daughter Rita Downey, a granddaughter Amber Downey, and several nieces and nephews.  The family would like to give special thanks to Roni and Amy with Kindred Hospice.  Memorial contributions may be made to either the Terre Haute Moose or Terre Haute Eagles.  Keeping with his wishes there will be a cremation without services.  Online condolences can be made at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
