Obituary

Gil Hodges, 65, passed away after a two-year courageous fight with cancer, on October 12, 2026. He was born August 16,1961 to Allan & Nancy Hodges. He was married to the love of his life Cindy Lu Strain, his high school sweetheart, dated nine years and married forty years. Gil is preceded in death by his parents Allan and Nancy Hodges, Stepmother June

Ladson-Hodges. in-laws, Gene and Patsy Strain, Brother In-laws Dan Parker, Danny Strain, Jeff Strain and Jack Pierce.

He was survived by his wife and son Lucas Conover Hodges, his Best Buddy, also his sisters Connie Cunningham (Daryl), Cathy Morley (Andy), Lisa Parker. And two brothers Les Hodges and Nick Hodges (Christi). Brother-in-Law, Scott Strain (Connie), Sister In laws Debbie Pierce, Marjie Strain and Several Nieces and Nephews on both sides of the family.

Gil was a true master of his welding and machinist craft, dedicating 46 years at Interstate Welding/Lennex Steel. Known for an unmatched work ethic and an eye for detail, Gil built a reputation as someone that never cut corners and always showed up early. His professional legacy will live on in his friends and co-workers.

He was a member of the Pimento Masonic lodge #292. the Zorah Shrine and the Scottish Rite of the Valley of Terre Haute.

Ultimately, He lived his life with a single, clear priority: his family. As a husband, he was Cindy's buddy, her rock and trusted partner. Together, they built a life filled with togetherness. And his devotion to her happiness knew no bounds. He brought that same fierce loyalty to his role as dad. Luke was his pride and joy, he invested his whole heart into him. Luke being his only son brought a beautiful layer to his story. They enjoyed watching movies and working in the garage and being outside together. Prior to his death he accepted Christ as his Savior.

The family would like to thank the Hux Cancer Center, Union Hospital and Linda Palmer and co-workers at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care for the care they have provided for Gil.
