Gil H. "Pops" Gough, 56 of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:30 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in Middleboro, KY. He was born in Terre Haute on July 18, 1958 to Donald Ray Gough and Elizabeth Ann Skinner Gough. He was a machine operator for CSX Railroad for 37 years. Gil attended Sugar Grove Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Middle School, and was a 1976 graduate of Terre Haute South. He spent several summers with his family at Shakamak State Park and enjoyed roller skating and he loved his koi fish pond. He is survived by his wife Stacy Drake Gough, daughter Lindsay Gough (Travis), and sons Corey Trhlik (Jake), and Cameron Drake, his granddaughter Shalynn A. Switzer, and his mother Elizabeth Gough. Also surviving are three sisters; Gwen Marden, Darby Bailey, and Jenny Gough Short, and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends. Gil was preceded in death by his father Donald Ray Gough, his brother Greg Gough, and sister Leslie Gough Dugger. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Kevin Drane officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a college trust for his granddaughter Shalynn, C/O of Terre Haute Savings Bank.
