Geraldine Louise Newman, 87, passed away November 16, 2023. She was born on November 5, 1936 in Terre Haute to Fred Weaver and Thelma (Grubb) Van Buren. She was married to Paul Newman for 65 years. For 16 years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Seaboard and Avco, and then retired as a homemaker. Geraldine loved to go shopping and to casinos. She also worked at the covered Bridge Festival for over 40 years.

She is survived by her daughter Paula Lane (Brian), granddaughter Courtney Lane, sister Betty Hopewell, half-brother Gary Van Buren, half-sister Pamela Scales, cousin and friend Ann Taylor, close cousin Richard Taylor, niece Lynnette Isbell-Purnell, two great nieces, and her beloved cat Lotte. She is preceded in death by her husband, both parents, sister Patricia Isbell, aunt who raised her, Jean Taylor, and beloved Akita Seiko.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice for all their care and help. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society in her honor.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 11 am to 1 pm at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with a service starting at 1 pm following visitation. Burial will take place at Roselawn Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
