Obituary

Gerald Wayne McKenzie, 85 of Terre Haute, passed away at 12:45 PM on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born in Staunton, IN on August 28, 1929 to Robert McKenzie and Selma Hyde McKenzie. Gerald was a retired foreman from Weston Paper Co. and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines where he served in Korea. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wife Helen Marie Elkins McKenzie, and by four brothers; Robert Beddow, Robert McKenzie, Jr., Leo McKenzie, and Larry McKenzie. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Meyer ( husband Gary), and Susan Nevill ( husband Art). Also surviving are four grandchildren; Heather Stephens (husband Josh), Shawn Nevill (wife Megan), Billy Nevill (fiancée Kaity Lawson), and Ryan Nevill, as well as five great grandchildren; Leah Nevill, Bryson Stephens, Ryder Nevill, Case Brown, and Haley Stephens. In addition, he is also surivived by his two sisters Marcella Reagin and Marilyn Harrison (husband Jack), and several nieces and nephews. His memberships include Krietenstein American Legion Post # 104, VFW Post # 972, and the Marine Corp League. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Steve Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery, with military graveside rites provided by American Legion Post # 104. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
