Gerald L. Dix, 95. of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born in Hymera, Indiana on August 31, 1930, to Harold Dix and Freida Powell Dix. Gerald served his country in the United States Army. He was an accountant by trade, since 1970. He graduated from Indiana University with his bachelor's degree, and later with an MBA from Indiana State University. His certifications included CPA and CFP. Gerald owned and operated Dix and Company for many years and later sold to Kemper CPA. In 1995 he started Wabash Tax and Investment Solutions. He and Bob McMahan, with Frank Rush, had a radio show on WTHI for many years. Their banter back and forth, as well as their colorful opinions made for an entertaining weekly show. Gerald and Carol made many memories while traveling. Their travels took them to Europe, China and India. Their fondest times were in Madeira Beach, Florida. Gerald will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his loving partner of 47 years, Carol Marietta, his children Peggy Mills (Jim Mills and Steve Potts), Larry Marietta (Michelle), and Brock Marietta (Megan); grandchildren Jim Mills II, Shannan Kirby (John), Tyler Dix (Amy), Sarah Barnes (Chad), Kelsey Cooney (Jerry), Molly Marietta, Maggie Marietta, Corbin Marietta, and Brice Marietta; great-grandchildren Dylan Bubeck (Natalia), Claudia Kirby, Brayden Cagle (Megan), Jayce Dix (Mikyla Farnell), Conner Barnes, Zakary Dix, Mallory Cooney, Caden Barnes, Max Cooney, Cameron Barnes, and Haley Dix, and daughter in law Julie Dix.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, sons Jerry Dix and Rodrick Dix, brother Ed Dix, and sister in law Connie Dix.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor J.C. Neff officiating. Burial will follow at K of P Hymera. The family would like to extend their gratitude to his wonderful 4th floor nurses Kris and Shera, and the love and care given to Gerald by his night nurses Katrina Weil and Raylie Suscoe, Hospice of the Wabash Valley and the VA.
