Obituary

Georgette Ann Case lost her battle with mental illness on Sunday, April 5, 2026. A respected nurse and devoted mother, Georgette struggled in private with a dark depression and anxiety, which led her to take her own life. With extreme sadness, Georgette's family mourns her loss and acknowledges her deep struggles, hoping to increase awareness and offer healing to others.

Georgette was born in Terre Haute, IN to Jerome Case and Lorie Blake Case. She was named after her paternal grandfather, George, a farmer. The name George is derived from words meaning "earth" and "tiller of the soil", fitting for Georgette who had a green thumb and enjoyed walking in nature.

Georgette loved to learn and would have become a professional student if possible. She attended Woodrow Wilson Middle School, excelling as a cheerleader and beautiful gymnast. In high school, she used those talents to shine as a diver at Terre Haute South High School, graduating in 1997.

She especially loved math, receiving her first higher education degree in Mathematics followed by a degree in Education and later a Masters in Computer Science. Using those degrees, Georgette began her career as a Math teacher for the Vigo County School Corporation at West Vigo Middle School.

Following her time as a teacher, Georgette returned to college to pursue a career in Nursing. Maybe best known by members of the community for her care and compassion as an RN, she worked for Regional Hospital and most recently at Harrison's Crossing. Georgette was highly respected and valued by both her colleagues and patients, receiving the prestigious "Daisy Award" at least twice in her career. The international healthcare non-profit program honors nurses who provide extraordinary compassionate care.

She attended classes at Common Ground CrossFit and Common Ground Yoga. Georgette was extremely passionate about her yoga practice, completing 750 classes at Common Ground since 2019. She also enjoyed Jiu-Jitsu.

Georgette's greatest achievement was being a mother. She loved her daughter fiercely and deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Ruby, parents Jerome and Lorie, brother Blake, wife Angie and their children Mary, Elizabeth and Nathan of Midland, TX, brother Isaac, wife Cecily and their children Sawyer, Quinn and Tucker of Greencastle, IN, sister Bekah Heyen, husband Rob and their children Destiny, Kaden and Kahlee of Terre Haute, maternal grandmother Naomi Blake and a large number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Mourning along with the family is Georgette's significant other, Bryan Davis.

A visitation, followed by Georgette's Celebration of Life will be hosted by her family at the Terre Haute Convention Center, 800 Wabash Ave., on Saturday, April 18, 2026, 4-7pm.

The Case family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers they have received from the Terre Haute community and beyond. They are overwhelmed by the kindness family, friends and strangers have shown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ruby Case Scholarship Fund via Sackrider & Co. 1925 Wabash Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47807.
