Gary Dean Lofton, 89, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026. He was born on September 19, 1936, in Shelburn, Indiana to Max Lofton and Garreta Ely Lofton. Gary served his country in the United States Navy. Gary enjoyed the simple things in life. Being with the family brought him the most happiness. The family had a swimming pool, so everyone tended to gather there. So many fun times were had at the family home. Earlier in life he enjoyed fishing. After retirement, Gary and Patricia spent many years in their RV traveling around Florida. Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be sadly missed by his family.

Gary is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Patricia Lofton, sons Elliott Lofton and Jeffrey Lofton, twin daughters Melinda Eldridge and Melissa Lofton, grandchildren Jeremy Lofton (Loren), Robert Lofton (Nakita), Ashley Barreira, Randi Elderidge, and Joseph Lofton, great-grandchildren Marcie, Maylee, Madison, Joseph, Levi, and Elizabeth, brother Daniel Lofton (Brenda), sister Patty Mundell, sister-in-law Nyla Lofton, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Dylan Lofton, sister Betty Ripple and brother-in-law Manford Ripple, brother Donald Lofton, and brother-in-law Jim Mundell.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Mike Brown will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
