Garnet J. Thomas, 88, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday October 1, 2015 in his daughter's residence. Garnet was born July 11, 1927 in Sullivan, IN to Lauren Thomas and Opal (Chowning) Thomas. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Scott and fiancé Joseph Morson of Terre Haute; grandsons, Robert Michael "Bobby" Sheese II and Joshua Morson; great grandchildren, Kinley Shelby Ann Sheese and Kohen Robert Michael Sheese; brothers, Gerald Thomas (Rosemary), Mark Thomas (Karen), and several nieces and nephews. Garnet was a veteran of the US Navy during WW II, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and Seabees. Special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and caregiver that took part in caring for Dad. Visitation will be Monday October 5, 2015 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in DeBaun Funeral Homes, Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. with funeral services at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by Lawton-Byrum Post #972 VFW.
