Obituary

Ms. Fannie Mae Howard passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025. She was born September 23, 1949, in Toadhop, Tennessee.  The family moved to Sullivan, Indiana where she graduated from Sullivan High School in 1967. While attending Sullivan High School she was in the school choir and a part of GAA. After graduation, she relocated to Terre Haute. She got her first job at the National Guard Armory as a secretary, and she worked at Columbian Enameling & Stamping. Fannie Mae loved to get her a piece of candy for her birthday, just because of her name.  In 1970 she moved to East St. Louis, Illinois where she began her life as a homemaker but holding many jobs to take care of her family. In 1982 she moved to Youngstown, Ohio where she went to school for nursing. Ultimately Fannie Mae found her calling as a social worker for the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority. She brought in GED classes and a mobile clinic to make it easier for single moms in the area. Fannie would often provide transportation when they were in need.

She was loyal, loving, understanding, and always willing to help anyone without anything in return. Her grace was unmatched, her class was exhilarating, she was humble, and patient.  Fannie was very well spoken and was a motivator for so many.  She was loved and respected by anyone that truly knew her.

Fannie leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Terrance Howard, Sr., Danielle Howard, and Arielle Howard; grandchildren Emoija Howard, Cierra Howard, Terajia Howard, Talowarence Howard, and Teaisa Howard; great-grandchildren Antwon Johnson, Amere Weatherly, Amari Weatherly, and Talowarnce Howard, III; sisters Bettie McCargo (Bornie), Deloris Blakemore, and Tereasa Flowers. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Morris, stepfather Joseph Morris, Jr., sons Eric Howard, Chad Howard, Chris Howard, grandson Terrance Howard, Jr., granddaughter Tamara Howard, sister Belinda Whitlock and brother Charles Taylor.
