Esther L. (Knight) Ramsey, 89, of Whitestown, Indiana died on Sunday, May 18, 2025.  She was born to L. Glen Knight and Velma Nora (Page) Knight on January 15, 1936 in Park Rapids, Minnesota.  Esther married Arden Ramsey on October 22, 1954.

Initially, Esther stayed home to raise her 3 children, Tom, Steve, and Linda.  After Linda started school, Esther attended college at Indiana State University and obtained a bachelor's degree in English and later completed her master's degree.  She began her teaching career at Honey Creek Middle School in Terre Haute in 1977, where she taught for 24 years.

Esther was an avid reader, and she could always be found at the library or a bookstore. She was a fabulous cook and loved baking.  Her family was blessed with wonderful meals and cookies! She also loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress.  She was always sewing clothes for her small children and herself.

Esther loved the Lord and was a strong woman of faith. She was active in her church at United Methodist Temple in Terre Haute.

Esther is survived by her children Thomas Arden Ramsey (Cathy), Steven Arden Ramsey (Marla), and Linda Caroline Jenkins (Rich); sister Iris Shepard, sister-in-law Gayle Knight; grandchildren Alan Ramsey (Lydia), Krista Medeiros (Justin), Nick Ramsey (Kara), Nathan Ramsey (Aubrey), Evan Mathews (Dierdre), Tyler Mathews (Jessi), Eric Jenkins, and Ryan Jenkins; great-grandchildren Sophia Ramsey, Roman Ramsey, and one on the way. Esther is preceded in death by her husband; both of her parents; brother Arnold W. Knight; and brother-in-law Kenneth Shepard.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Restoracy of Whitestown, in Whitestown, Indiana.  The family would also like to thank her hospice nurses for her end of life care.
