Elsie
Mccrocklin
Elsie McCrocklin was born in on July 30, 1919 and enjoyed her 96th birthday in July with many friends and family.. Her niece, Susan and nephews, Kevin and Tim, spent the last 16 days of her life with her, and she passed into eternal life, on Tuesday September 8, 2015 at home in the same house she was born in. Education was one of her passions and it was very important to her for her nieces and nephews to get an education. She graduated from Riley High School, Terre Haute Business College, and received a bachelors degree and a masters degree from Indiana State Teacher's College. She taught school at Vincennes, Attica and Indiana State Boy's School and she tutored many children over the years. She was licensed in real estate and auctioneering and was a member of Rural Youth. She volunteered at Light House Mission, League for Animal Welfare, and Habitat for Humanity. She loved entering open class at the fair and did this up until 2013, receiving hundreds of ribbons and sweepstakes. She enjoyed her pet cats, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and working in her yard and garden. All of her life, she always lent a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Her secret to a long life was to "always do the right thing". She is survived by her sister, Betty McCrocklin Rademacher, her nieces, Susan Chlebek (David) and Linda Maynard, her nephews, Kevin Rademacher, (Andrea), Tim Rademacher (Kathy), and Larry, David, and Richard McCrocklin and numerous great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special neighbors, Buddy and Cheryl Counterman, who have been more than neighbors and did so much for her over the years. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Matilda (Kiefner) and Virgil McCrocklin, her sister, Zelda Moseman, and her brothers, Harry, Leonard, and Donald McCrocklin, and her nephew, Doyne. Life will never be the same without her. We loved the time we spent with her on the farm and will miss her so much. Visitation will be Friday September 11, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm in DeBaun Funeral Homes, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. with funeral services on Saturday September 12, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Fagg officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
