Ella D. Matherly Stokes Brown, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away at 4:05 AM on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Breckenridge Health & Rehabilitation Center in Sullivan. She was born in Terre Haute on May 25, 1927 to Aaron Matherly and Leona Jeffers Matherly. She is survived by her children: Beverly Corso, Gary Stokes, Sharon Hoctor and Joyce Jones. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandson plus several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess Brown and her eight siblings. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Durham Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
