Blubaum
September 15, 1956 – February 20, 2024
Eldon Ray Blubaum, aged 67, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024 at Union Hospital. He was born on September 15, 1956 in Vincennes, Indiana to Edgar and Maxine Blubaum.
Eldon graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School and later married his wife, Deborah in March of 1977. He worked the majority of his life as a correctional officer, starting with state prisons in Rawlins, Wyoming and Pendleton, Oregon before ultimately retiring from the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Terre Haute, Indiana in 2011 after 22 years of service. Shortly after retiring, he worked with his son, Brett, doing tree service work.
Eldon was a proud member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene where he looked forward to services and singing old hymns. He enjoyed raising rabbits with his children and supporting them in the 4-H rabbit club for several years. Eldon loved to hunt and fish. He took yearly trips to Deer River, Minnesota with his children and faithful fishing buddies, Shelby Olvey and Luke Ruble. He had a slightly competitive side and enjoyed competing in poker tournaments and playing card games. He enjoyed making several trips to Vincennes to enjoy a Bobe's pizza with close family friend, Clint Woods. Eldon had a considerable amount of friendships that he cherished so much.
Eldon leaves behind his wife, Deborah, and six children; Eldon, Jr.(Krista), Rosalie(Scott), Brett(Ashley), Todd, Clayton, and Bryce. He was a proud grandpa of nine, Morgan, Tyler, Landon, Brady, Ember, Brantley, Alachi, Adiya,and Khloe. He is also survived by his siblings; Ora Jean(Doug) Gillespie, Phyllis(Joe) Burnett, Wendell(Liisa) Blubaum, and Ed Blubaum.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lloyd Blubaum.
A visitation for Eldon will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the Southside Church of the Nazarene, 1901 S. 4th St., in Terre Haute from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service
