Edith Mae (Swalls) Kearschner , 88 of Terre Haute passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Southwood Nursing Home surrounded by family.  She was born in Terre Haute on May 4, 1929 to Herman Swalls and Vernice Delsi (Hawkins) Swalls. Edith is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leroy Kearschner; her son Michael L Kearchner; sisters Norma Jones, Ophelia Lawrence, and Rachel Butler; brothers David Swalls, Daniel Swalls, and Stephen Swalls.   Survivors include her Brother Carl; daughter Vernice Sinclair (John); daughter-in-law Linda; grandchildren Michael Kearschner (Jen), Adrian Rowe (Steve) John, Kevin, Ryan, David (Lauren) , and Rie; Great grandchildren Bailey, Arabella, Gabriel, and Sterling; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Edith was very active in Assembly of God church in Hammond IN, she held many postions including teaching and music groups.  She was known for her baking and cooking.  Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 with funeral services starting at 11 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel.  Pastor Shawn Riggs will be officiating.  Burial at Hymera cemetery will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
