Dorene Pauline Cooper, 85, of Universal passed away Sunday June 2, 2024. She was born January 25, 1939 in Terre Haute. Dorene is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Virgil Dean Cooper; daughter, Lora McKinney (Jason); sisters, Carolyn Myers (Fred) and Donna Boatman; grandchildren, Briana Shull (Adam), Jacob Lindsey, Steven Simpson, and Shannon Ling (Brandon); great-grandson, Lawson Cooper Shull and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dena Jo Simpson and her parents Donald and Bertha Juanita Cooper. Dorene was a 1957 graduate of Fayette High School and a graduate of St. Anthony School of Nursing with a Operating Room Technician degree. She loved fishing, gardening, sewing and all plants and flowers. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cared for her family and friends deeply and will be missed by them all. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
