Rev. Donald Ray Tichenor, Sr., 79 of Pimento, passed away at 6:15 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in his residence. He was born in Terre Haute on June 17, 1936 to Harold Tichenor and Thelma Reece Tichenor. Don pastored for 45 years at a number of United Methodist Churches including; Burns City, Scotland, Dugger, Bethel United Methodist, Hickory United Methodist, West Point, IL, Blackhawk Community, and Pleasant Hill Community Church. In addition, he was Chaplain at Bakersfield Raceway in Linton for many years and was a Driver for Area 7, transporting veterans and senior citizens out of the Washington, IN area, and was a former member of the Pierson Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a man who truly loved the Lord, this was apparent in his service to others, and loved his wife and family. Don never met a stranger, loved to sing gospel music, and was always ready with a joke. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Hazel Chasteen Tichenor, and a sister, Betty Aldrich, and his parents. He is survived by two sons, Donald Ray Tichenor (wife Debbie), and Steven J. Tichenor (wife Kathy), as well as three daughters; Linda L. Jeffries (husband Ric), Brenda S. Raley (husband John), and B.J. Campebell (husband Jim). Also surviving are seven grandchildren; J.T. Jeffries, Justin Campbell, McKayla Tichenor, Jaydon Tichenor, Skyler Tichenor, Cody Campbell, and Bayley Tichenor. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 10:30 AM, with Pastors Jeff Lee and Rod Maris officiating. Burial will follow in Farmersburg Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 17, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gideon's International or Pleasant Hill Community Church Odon, IN, in his memory. Don's family would also like to give a special thank you to Help at Home Agency of Terre Haute for their care and compassion.
