Obituary

Dolores “Jane” Edwards passed away to Everlasting Life on October 15, 2026 at 102 years old. She remained her vibrant, quick witted and self-proclaimed “particular” self those entire 102 years. We know that from heaven she is scolding us for finally telling everyone her age.

When we remember Jane, we remember someone whose amazing life spanned generations. Somehow – she embodied the best qualities of each of those eras. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She valued serving her family more than anything. And yet, she was confident and very much her own self-assured person. She pushed her children and grandchildren to prioritize family but also to seek out education as well as adventure. She supported those endeavors with love, laughter and often amusement (with the occasional scolding.) She was simply vivacious and spoke about how life is meant to be enjoyed often - attributing this as the “secret” to living such a full and long life.

Jane was married for a remarkable 72 years to Robert “Bob” Edwards. It was not just the incredible feat of time that made their marriage special though, it was the entire essence of their love. Their love was warm and radiated from them and their every interaction. Even today, we can still feel it. From their time as parents to their beloved Mark and Debra, to travelling around the country in their RV, to their retirement in Florida and finally becoming “Mamaw and Papaw” at the age of 70 – they continued to laugh, tease, flirt, and simply love each other deeply. We are grateful that they are now reunited in heaven.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents Thelma and Vern Critchlow, steadfast husband Robert Edwards, sister Betty Pate, cherished daughter Debra Switzer (who is survived by husband David Switzer) nephew Jay Coakley (who is survived by wife Jackie Coakley) and nephew Larry Pate. She is survived by her son Mark Edwards (Stephanie Edwards), granddaughters Katelin Parrett (Alex Parrett) and Danielle Edwards (Austin Neal), niece Megan Cook (Brad Cook, children Lizzie and Jack), nephews Robert Pate (Debra Pate) and Randall Pate (Sandra Pate).

We will forever remain grateful to have witnessed and been touched by the beautiful life and love that both Jane and Robert created together. Until we meet again.
