Dennis Edward Meng, 77, passed away on Wednesday December 8, 2021 at his home. He was born in Indinanapolis February 8, 1944 to the late James B Meng and Dorothy M Meng. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Karen Meng. Dennis is survived by his wife Carolyn Uplinger Meng; son Steve and his wife Kecia; daughter Marianne Burt and her husband Rob; Carolyn's children Eric Wickens (Marla), Ryan Wickens (Sarah Pierce), Carolyne Catt (Branden), and Robert Holcomb; brothers James K Meng and Jack E Meng; seven grandchildren, Cody Obenchain, Dennis Meng, Jordan Meng, Kendall Burt, Grace Burt, Max Burt, Sophia Burt and 7 great-grandchildren; Carolyn's grandchildren Riley and Issac Wickens, Tallulah Wickens, as well as Isabella, Hadligh, and RG Holcomb. At the age of 17 Dennis joined the United States Air Force and served 4 years. He was a Military Police Officer serving in Spain and Nebraska. Dennis was owner and operator of Sycamore Chevrolet from 1985 until his retirement in 2010. Dennis enjoyed flying one of his airplanes and taking adventures on his motorcycle or in his boat in his free time. He was recently recognized as a lifetime supporter of the Vigo County Fairgrounds and the Vigo County 4-H. He was also a member of the Terre Haute Zorah Shrine and Riley Masonic Lodge #390. Dennis was known as a humble man who was always willing to help others. People certainly thought highly of Dennis. Visitation for Dennis will be held on Tuesday, December 14 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. with funeral services starting at 1:00 P.M. Burial at New Harmony Cemetery will follow. Dennis's wife Carolyn would like to thank Dennis' grandson Dennis Meng (Alyssa) and their children Dexter and Olivia as well as Carolyn's grandchildren for the special care given to Dennis.
