Obituary

David Andy Turner, 59, formally of Marshall, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly at home in Wyandotte, Michigan on Friday August 12th, 2016. He was born on July 11, 1957, in Terre Haute, IN, to Andy and Edythe (Smitley) Turner. Andy is survived by his sister Susan (Phil) Halt of Waterloo Ii., and brother Dr. Jim (Connie) Turner of Terre Haute, IN., and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Terry Crawford, Sally Ramsey, and Beth Turner. Andy was a 1975 graduate of Marshall High School and attended University of Illinois. Andy retired from the Marathon Refinery in Detroit Michigan, where he was a member of the Teamsters Local 283. Andy was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, Fighting Illini, and local Detroit teams. Lovingly known as Indy "A", he attended over 40 Indianapolis 500's with his friends and family. Andy never met a stranger and had a special gift of making friends wherever he traveled. Andy had a wonderful sense of humor that was a source of laughter and enjoyment for all who knew him. He was a much-loved uncle who was always a happy presence at special occasions in their lives. Visitation will be on Saturday August 20th, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshall, Illinois, from 8:00 am until mass at 11:00 am. Lunch will be provided for friends and family in the parish hail. In lieu of flowers, family suggest memorial donations may be made to the Andy and Edythe Turner Memorial Scholarship Fund, Wabash Valley Community Foundation, 2901 Ohio Blvd., Terre Haute, IN, 47803, 812- 232-2234. DeBaun Funeral Home, 85 E. Springhill Dr. is in charge of arrangements.
