David R. Newport, 54, of Clay City, passed away Wednesday June 24, 2026 in his residence. He was born September 7, 1971 in Terre Haute to Thomas L. Newport and Mary (Fenwick) Booker.

David graduated from Terre Haute North High School, class of ’89 and worked as a fabricator at GE Aerospace. David loved to ride his motorcycle, go fishing, attend concerts, and spend time with the people he loved. He was a dear friend to many and a beloved father, partner, and papaw.

David is survived by his daughter, Sarah Newport and her mother, Dawn Newport; significant other, Lisa Krabbe; stepson, Jeremy Auterson; brother, Thomas L. “Tommy” Newport, Jr. (Karen); grandchildren, Logan Auterson and Taylor Auterson and a nephew, Mitchell Newport.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and stepmother, Daphne Newport.

Visitation will be Sunday July 5, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with friends and family invited to share stories about David starting at 2:00 pm.
