David Paul Harris, Sr., 72 of Lewis, IN, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1:30 AM in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born in Terre Haute on September 19, 1944 to William Edward Harris, Sr. and Thelma Naomi Wilson Harris. David was a concrete truck driver for N.E.W. Interstate. He is survived by his wife Anita Cox Harris—whom he married January 6, 1968. He is also survived by their two sons, David Harris, Jr. (Shanna), and William L. Harris, as well as five grandchildren: Rusty Bickel (Emily), Jessica Gray (Andrew Chapman), Sidney Harris, Bethanie Harris, and Felicia Harris, as well as two great grandchildren, Jayden Bickel and Rusty Bickel III. Other survivors include two brothers, William Harris (Carol), and Floyd Harris (Donna Hunt), as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Robert C. Harris, Delbert A. Harris, and Helen Waggoner. David was a member of Teamsters Local Union # 135, and previously worked as a logger and farmer. He dearly loved his wife, kids, and grandkids, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as just driving in the country. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been chosen with Memorial services scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of DeBaun Funeral Homes and Crematory.
