Cristie Ann (Tipton) Major was born October 4, 1953 to John Henry Tipton and Barbara (Neal) Tipton in Monahans, Texas.  In early childhood she lived in Texas until the age of 13 when she moved to Terre Haute with her family.

She passed away December 9, 2021 at Wabash Valley Hospice in Terre Haute surrounded by her husband and family.  Cris graduated in the first graduating class at Terre Haute South High School.  She married her husband, Mark on November 24, 1973 after a whirlwind three week courtship and they just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.

Cris was a wonderful wife who loved her children very dearly.  She always loved to be with her grandchildren and spent countless hours caring for and teaching them.  She was an avid gardener and tended to her flower gardens all day.  She always warmed up her children for ball games before her husband got home from work.  Cris also had a love of horses.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Barbara Tipton and her daughter Jennifer Allison.  Cris is survived by her husband Mark, sons Jason (Kara) and Josh (Jessica), grandchildren Marek Logan Gibson, Andrew Major, Dylan Major, Olivia Major, Elaina Major, Xander Turner, and Maylyn Turner, brother Tim Tipton (Kathy),sisters Lisa Koeela (Andy) and Sherie Chadwick, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Mass will be on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at St. Jospeh University Parish at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
