Coloma Jean
(Gibbons) Miller
November 17, 1929 – February 23, 2021
Coloma Miller passed away, peacefully on February 23, 2021 at her home, with her family present, at the age of 91.
Coloma was born in Los Angeles, California to Charles Herbert (Herb) Gibbons and Pearl Jones Gibbons on November 17, 1929.
She is survived by her children, Therese (Terry) Miller; Laura Garrett (Tom); and William (Bill) Miller. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Christopher (Chris) Miller; Jeremiah Garrett (Katie); and April Bennett (Zach); as well as eight great grandchildren; Joshua, Aletheia, Seraiah, and Caius Garrett; Parker, Carson, and Hunter Bennett; and Aiden Paramore; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Vivian Anderson; brother Hal Gibbons; sister-in-law Joyce Gibbons; and cousins Alberta Haggerty and Jim Cackler.
She graduated from Forsdson High School in Dearborn, Michigan as salutatorian. Upon graduation, she started her banking career. In Terre Haute, she worked as a teller at Terre Haute Savings Bank and retired at Terre Haute First Financial Bank after 40 plus years/ She loved to travel, read, attend Community Theater and Tirey Memorial productions with her friend Helen Sapp, as well as ISU basketball and football games. Some of the organizations she belonged to were Daughters of the Nile, Business and Professional Women, Women's Department Club, and Beta Sigma Phi, as well as many charities. She was a very caring and loving person who will be sadly missed by those who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 3:00 pm at DeBaun Funeral Home and Crematory, 85 East Springhill Drive with Pastor Steve Moore officiating. Daughters of the Nile will be doing a memorial. Visitation will be held an hour before the service. If you have a memory or funny story about Coloma, jot it down and bring it to the service to share. Cremation has been chosen. Masks are to be worn when not sitting down!
