Obituary

Christopher Allen Burk, faithful husband, son, brother and uncle, left the world on Sunday, June 30, 2024, with his family by his side. For someone to leave us so young, our greatest comfort is knowing how loved Chris was during his 33 years.

Chris was born on December 1, 1990, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Tony and Marilyn Allen Burk. "It's A Boy!" his Grandparents celebrated!

A quiet and humble person, funny and could make you laugh until you cry- with a sense of humor all his own. Serious yet sarcastic, showing his love for his people through his jokes and sarcasm. Chris found comfort when surrounded by conversation and laughter. His sweet side, we could never get enough of. If you needed Chris, he may not have the words, but he was there. He loved fiercely and quietly. He never stopped absorbing the love shown from those around him, and he returned it in kind. Chris never stopped being Chris, the kid we all loved.

At the age of 17, he fell in love with the girl who would be by his side for the rest of his life. Chris Burk and Elizabeth Poole, his "Betsy," had a bond which would not be broken. Life was a whirlwind of college, new jobs and new towns for the young couple. After 10 years there together, along with their dog Molli, California became their home, and would be their final destination.

Not many days went by where Chris didn't text or talk to his Dad, sharing their joint love for the Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Dodgers, Indiana Pacers, or quoting their favorite movie, Top Gun. He was eager to ask his Mom for cooking tips, recipes and share pictures of his culinary creations. Chris was a loyal son and the quintessential baby brother. Wearing a flashy Hawaiian shirt, the proud uncle would often tag along with his nieces and nephew to San Diego Padres games where they agreed to disagree on their favorite teams. (Let's go Dodgers!) His family in Indiana enjoyed receiving photos of impressive scenery, as Chris found peace adventuring with his four-legged sidekick, in search of the most breathtaking views California had to offer. It is no secret, Molli helped Chris select the perfect location for his proposal to Elizabeth.

Chris was a proud alum of Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where he made life-long friends and gained many brothers in the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

Chris leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth Burk; parents Tony and Marilyn Burk of Terre Haute, IN; Sister Ashley Butler, brother-in-law Greg Butler, nieces Macie and Michaela Butler, and nephew Max Butler of Oceanside, CA; Sister Holly Diethrich, (Jared McCullough) and niece Cora Diethrich of Terre Haute, IN; in-laws Mark, Angie, Evan, Lauren, Tatum and Aspyn Poole; unwavering lifelong friends, Abe Melloh, Bart Kelly, Griffin Norris, and Frank Solis, along with extended family and friends. Passing before him, Grandpa Fred and Maggie Burk, Virginia "Grandma Ginny" and Virgil  Allen, and his beloved "Uncle Joe" Weil. What a reunion that must be!

Celebration of Chris' life will be held at a later date. Until then, our Wingman is on to bigger and better things.
