Chloras Gretna Sankey, 90, of Pimento, IN passed away at 2:10 AM on Sunday, September 28, 2014 in Miller's Merry Manor in Sullivan. She was born in Vigo County on November 24, 1923 to Homer Pipher and Josephine Harris Pipher. Gretna was preceded in death by her husband George Fredrick Sankey—who passed away on May 21, 1992, and one sister, Lois Allen. She is survived by her son Charles Fredrick Sankey (wife Kim), and her daughter Carolyn Voegele (husband Ron). Also surviving are three grandchildren; John Fredrick Sankey, Sebert L. "J.R." Jackson, and DeAnna L. Kouns, as well as five great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Pauline Arbaugh of Grass Valley, CA. Gretna was a member of Hulman St. Wesleyan Church—where she taught Sunday School for 71 years, was active in the Pierson Township Ladies Lions Club, Pierson Township Home Ec. Club, and the Blackhawk Community Center. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Wednesday October 1, 2014 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Marvin Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
