Obituary

Charles Edward Weddle, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and retired coal miner. Charles was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Vigo County, to Ernest Weddle and Ruth (Price) Weddle. He is survived by a son, Chris Weddle (Susan) of Florida; daughters, Kathy Padgett (George) of Terre Haute, and Pam Palmer (Larry) of Noblesville; grandchildren, Travis Weddle, Riley Weddle, Jennifer Weber, Todd Padgett, Kelly Keyes, and Elle Palmer; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Phyllis (Waldron) Weddle, who died in 1976, his second wife, Helen Williams Weddle, who died in 1999; a sister, Anna Mae Brooks; and two brothers, Ernest Weddle Jr. and Vernie Weddle. Charles was a member of the Riley Lion's Club, Riley United Methodist Church and Lawton-Byrum Post 972 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a veteran of the Indiana Air National Guard. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 20, 2016, from 4 until 8 p.m., in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Private family burial will be at a later date at Oakland Cemetery, in Montezuma. The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to either the Lion's Club or American Heart Association.
