Charles William Thompson, 81, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026. He was born on October 26, 1944, in Terre Haute to Richard Thompson and Annabelle Akens Thompson. Chuck was an avid bowler, with 26 sanctioned 300 games. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, coin collecting, scuba diving, boating, and water skiing. Chuck was also an amateur HAM radio operator. He was Past Patron of Eastern Star Chapter #516, Past Master of the Pimento Masonic Lodge #292, Past Master of Social Lodge #86, Past Thrice Potent Master of the Valley of Scottish Rite, and 33rd degree Mason. He and Ruth attended the First Assembly of God Church in Clinton. He retired from Novelis (formerly Alcan) after 47 dedicated years. Brothers Breakfast was also one of his favorite activities every 3rd Wednesday of the month. Chuck was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. His presence will be missed by the many lives he touched.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth A. Bell Thompson, sons Richard Thompson (Tracy) and Bryan Thompson; their third child and beloved dog Dexter; grandchildren Desiree, Reven, Samantha, Ayden, Hunter, Adyson, and Nolen; two great grandchildren, brothers Barry Thompson, Garry "Jug" Thompson (Marsha), and Marshall "Yogi" Thompson (Beth Ann), sister-in-law Sherilyn Thompson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis Ray Thompson, and sister-in-law Evelyn Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fraternal and Religious Services will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Chuck may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
