Charles Patrick “Pat” Secrest was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 7, 1936, to Ray and Margaret C. (Dunning) Secrest. He passed away at home on August 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Pat is survived by his wife Jeanenne A. (Tryon) Secrest, sons Kevin (Laura) and Sean of Terre Haute, Christopher (Angie) of Avon, Indiana, and daughter Erin (Michael) of Stafford, Virginia; 13 grandchildren and step grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale and an infant grandson.

He graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute and attended The University of Texas and Indiana State University. Pat served in the United States Army in the early days of Vietnam in Special Forces. He also served in the United States Army Reserves retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1996. He held several jobs as a young man. The last few being at Wabash Fiber Box and Bemis Company (now Amcor). He retired from Bemis Co. in 1998 after 29 years of service. In his retirement he enjoyed returning to ISU and taking up his love of painting and drawing. Pat continued his love of learning and drawing up until the time of his death. Pat was a Master Gardener for a number of years and enjoyed time in his yard and with the Master Gardener’s Association. He and Jeanenne enjoyed many fun and adventurous trips and vacations and new experiences until his health no longer allowed.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Wabash Valley for the excellent care given to Pat in his last weeks. Per his request, cremation was chosen.
