"Chick" Julian
Charles Edwin "Chick" Julian, 95 of Terre Haute & formerly of Sullivan County, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 in Terre Haute Union Hospital. He was born in Hymera on April 30, 1921 to Charles Earnest Julian and Myrtle (Lowdermilk Kappler) Julian. He was a 1939 graduate of Hymera High School and served in WW II as a Yeoman First Class in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Julian's IGA in Hymera, IN and retired from Columbia Records in Terre Haute, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Terre Haute, VFW Post # 245 in Sullivan, IN, Hymera Masonic Lodge # 588 F & AM, and O.E.S. Chapter 289 of Hymera. He married Betty Rose Annis Julian on April 20, 1946, and she preceded him in death in 1984. His 2nd wife, Jean Drake Julian, preceded him in death in 2015. He is survived by two sons, Charles Michael Julian (wife Bertha) of Terre Haute, and Mark Edwin Julian (wife Linda), of Toledo, OH. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Jeanette Riggs (Husband Ron) of Terre Haute, and Peggy McGarvey (husband Greg) of Fishers, IN. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Nina Storey (husband Steve), Marily Hoover (husband Chad), Heather Hughes (husband Josh), Angela Julian, and Matthew Julian as well as four step-grandchildren: Christopher McGarvey, Joshua McGarvey, Emily Gonzalez (husband Erick) and Bethany Gisel (husband Dan). Other survivors include eight great grandchildren: Payton, Drew, Alyssa, Gordon and Bryson Julian, Ella and Evan Hughes, and Eli Storey, as well as five step- great grandchildren: Adrian and Lucas Gonzalez, Daniel, Mathew, and Tytus Gisel. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Bernie Jackson officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery in Hymera on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM, with Military Rites provided by VFW Post 245 in Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, 4701 E. Poplar Dr., Terre Haute, IN 47803, in his memory.
