Carol Kay (Ryan) Slusser, 79 of Terre Haute, passed away April 8, 2016 in her residence with her family by her side at 10:55 AM. She was born January 6, 1937 in Terre Haute to Carl and Elnora Ryan. In her younger years Carol traveled with her husband all over the United States while he served in the Navy, and in the winter months she enjoyed traveling to Florida and to Nebraska in the spring and fall for weeks at a time, as well as camping, Bingo, and visiting with family and friends. She was the former co-owner of Highland Laundry Mat in Plaza North Shopping Center and the former co-owner of Fields of Flowers Shop until they sold the shop in October 1988, and was also co-owner of Slusser Enterprises and Slusser Service Center which is still in operation. She was a member of Mt Pleasant Church, member of Badoura Temple No. 23 Daughters of the Nile where she is a Past Worthy Matron, member of Order of Eastern Star 496 of Martinsville, IL, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary post 515 of Martinsville, IL, Ladies Auxiliary VFW post 972 Terre Haute, IN, Hillbilly gals Zorah Shrine Terre Haute, IN, member at large. In her younger years, she belonged to International Order of Job's Daughters Bethel in unknown. She is survived by her husband James (Jim) Slusser, whom she married July 11, 1956, they would have been married 60 years in July, and a daughter and son-in-law Melinda and Keith Rader of Terre Haute. Also surviving are 4 grandsons; Scott Slusser, Keith Rader, Jr., Henry Corrales, and Jamie Rader and wife Amy, all of Terre Haute, as well as 3 granddaughters; Kelly Slusser and Jasmine Radera
