Carl D. Taylor, 77, passed away February 17, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Russellville, IN on December 12, 1939 to Lester and D. Marie (Simpson) Taylor. He was retired from J. I. Case in Burlington, Iowa where he was a welder and worked in production. He married Ruth (Tingley) Taylor on January 9, 1988 and she survives. Other survivors are his children David Taylor, Sherry Tompkins and her husband Ed, and Karen Taylor-Stuck. His step-children are Jeff Gemmaka, Danny Gemmaka, Kathi Gemmaka, and Julie Tarrh and her husband Bob. He has six brothers, Morris, Arlis, Evan, Jerry, Steve, and Norman Taylor; three sisters Shirley Taylor-Ward, Linda Auterson, and Arlene Mattox. There are fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Lisa and Samantha Carpenter. Carl attended Greenwood Baptist Church, was a former member of Wabash Valley Rodders, and belonged to the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association). His hobby was restoring old vehicles, especially street rods. Funeral services will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 until service time.
