C. James "Jim" Schnabel, 86, of Terre Haute passed away Friday September 3, 2021 in Westminster Health Center. Jim was a music teacher for many years in Vigo County and was the Coordinator of Music for the Vigo County School Corporation when he retired. He was born April 29, 1935 in Gary, Indiana to Clarence Calvin and Adelle (Frenzel) Schnabel. Jim is survived by his wife, Reita Sue "Susie" (Ring) Schnabel; sons, William C. Schnabel (Annette), James R. Schnabel (Annette), Thomas J. Schnabel (Cindy), and Kenneth R. Schnabel (Townsend); 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and two sisters. Jim was a veteran of the US Army. He was Glee Club director at Rose Hulman for many years, church choir director for Washington Presbyterian and Central Presbyterian Church's and played the cello for the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. Jim also loved traveling. Visitation will be Wednesday September 15, 2021 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 2:00 pm in the funeral home.
