Byron Edward Layton "Babe Layton Sr. ", 79, of Brazil, IN passed away on February 19, 2014 at 3:30 a.m. in the Exceptional Living Center in Brazil He was born on June 22, 1934 to Richard Layton and Willa May (Higginbotham) Baim. He worked as an appliance repair man. He traveled a lot for his job, but he always returned to Terre Haute. He loved his job and the people he worked for. Babe enjoyed bowling, traveling, dancing, going out to eat, and just enjoying life until he got sick. Babe was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Sally; brothers Phillip Morris and Bobby Perigo. He is survived by a special person in his life, Mitzi Boetjer of Terre Haute; his sons Ed Layton of Terre Haute, Richard Layton, Bill Layton, and Marty Layton all of Clinton; brothers Richard Layton and Bill Perigo; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces Vicki, Soundra, and Karen. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday February 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
