Bill H. Thompson, 87 of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in his residence.. He was born in Terre Haute on October 27, 1928 to Hector V. Thompson and Cora Margaret Slavens Thompson. He was an Army Air Corp veteran and retired from the Industries Department at the Federal Penitentiary. Bill is survived by his wife Donna Caton Thompson, whom he married August 17, 1951. Also surviving are four children: Brenda Pair (Bryan), Deborah Miranda (Charles), Kenneth Thompson (Sheila), and Linda Thompson (Tim Swank). In addition, he is survived by 13 grandchildren: Lori Brown, Toni Bernstein, Danielle Woods, Ryan Timmermon, Erin Kennedy, Dania Miranda, John Miranda, Melodie Larson, Diana Jackson, Christina Crews, Mathew Thompson, Cody Alumbaugh, and Kyle Alumbaugh, as well as 28 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin L. Thompson in 1982. Bill was a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge # 86 F & AM, 25 year member of the Scottish Rite, member of American Legion Post # 346, and loved to fish. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Kyle Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery, with military rites provided by American Legion Post # 346. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley or favorite charity, in his memory.
