Betty Irene (Whitlock) Gregory, 90 of Terre Haute, passed away at 11:30 PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in her residence. She was born in Youngstown, IN on July 1, 1925 to Guy Whitlock and Mary Schommer Whitlock. Betty was a life member of the Riley American Legion Auxillary, where she was very active at the district level, and American Legion 8/40. She is survived by two daughters, Kaye Smith Brant (John) and Connie Gregory Urbain (Joe). Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; Roy Smith (Annette), Ron Smith (Penny), Rodney Smith (Gina), Catherine Wenzel (Steven), Jonnetta Zerkle (Chad), Cheryl Woodard (Neal), Sherry Beckman, and Cherie Lewis (Joe), as well as 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Others survivors include 3 brothers; Allen Whitlock, Dale Whitlock, and Kenny Whitlock, and a sister, Dorothy Peoples, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Gregory in 2006, as well as 3 brothers; Bud Whitlock, Harold Whitlock, and Ed Whitlock, and a sister, Maxine Fields. Funeral services for Betty will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM, with Mark Grayless officiating. Burial will follow in Durham Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in her memory.
