Betty L. Walters, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away at 7:13 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in her residence. She was born in Vigo County on February 13, 1924 to William Mullen and Hazel Scott Mullen. She retired as a bookkeeper for AP & S Clinic. Survivors include her granddaughter Sara DeWitt and her fiance' Shawn Doyle of Terre Haute; grandson, Walter "Scott" Roberts and fiance' Kim Jackson of Terre Haute; and granddaughter Christina Brough and husband Gary of Brownsburg, IN. Also surviving are her great grandchildren Garrison and Avalyn Brough, and two sons-in-law, Charles Lumsdon of St. Joseph, IL and Daniel Albright of Terre Haute. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Walters, her parents, and two daughters, Hazel Lumsdon and Virginia "Ginny" Albright. She was a bookkeeper in the Navy Stationed in Washington D.C. during World War II. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Hull Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the Vigo County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, February 10, 2014 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thank you to David DeWitt, the home healthcare staff, and the hospice staff. Without all their help, Betty would not have been able to stay at her home the past few years.
