Bennie Eugene Payne, 84, of Terre Haute passed away on April 25, 2014 at 6:40 p.m. in Union Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on January 11, 1930, in Terre Haute, to Velma (Payne) Parrish. Bennie was a member of Christ Temple Church in Terre Haute. He was a United States Army Veteran. In his earlier years, he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and having cookouts with family and friends. Bennie is survived by his son Donald E. Payne, and his wife Pam of Terre Haute; daughters Velma Jeffries, her husband Steve of Terre Haute, Karen Utter of Yulee, Florida, LeeAnn Slover, and her husband Joe of Terre Haute; step sons John Stein, his wife Melody, William "Bill" Stein and his wife Vicky of Brazil; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and special friend Mae St. John. He was preceded in death by his mother ; first wife Wilma Payne-Stewart and second wife Dorothy Baker Stein Payne. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday April 29, 2014 at 1:00p.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Rev. Merrill Weir will be officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00a.m. until 1:00p.m.
