Barbara Ruth Day, age 89, passed away at home surrounded by family on July 14,2016. She was born September 26, 1926 in Terre Haute to Ray Wade and Wanda (Walker) Wade. Barbara lived a life of service always thinking of others, placing their needs before her own. She shared her time with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Croix de Guerre marching color guard in La Puente, California and as President of Lullaby Grandmother's Club, Chapter #544, in Terre Haute. A member of King's Harvest Foursquare church of Terre Haute since 2002, she humbly served her beloved church family and friends as deaconess for many years. Barbara also volunteered in Higher Hope Missions Kid's for Christ ministry as well as her church's food bank ministry. She lovingly extended her service into King's Kids daycare for 5 years as the head cook. Ms. Day was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Wade and Wanda (Walker) (Wade) Certain, three brothers, William Samuel Wade, Joseph Arnold Wade, and Arnold Dockie Wade, her husband of 51 years, Roy Edward Day and one grandson, Ted William Putman Jr., all of Terre Haute. She is survived by her son Jerry Day and wife Sharon of Brazil, daughter Rebecca Putman and husband Ted of Terre Haute and daughter Diana Day from Terre Haute. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Roy Putman and wife Andrea of Denver, Colorado, Latisha and husband Tim Miller of Temecula, California, Dewight and wife Toni Herman of Clinton, Indiana, Barbara and husband Eddie Henderson of Terre Haute, Indiana, Tiffany and husband Jason Boren, of Sanford, North Carolina, Jerrod and wife Kristine Day of Fishers, Indiana, and Amelia Herman of Terre Haute. Barbara also had 19 great grandchildren, Annalynn Rivera, Cassandra and husband Zach Whallon, Cassidy Herman, Manuel Rivera, Isiac Thomas-Anaya, Shelby Putman, Angelique Herman, Jacquez Floyd, Anquanice Floyd, Angel Herman, Jaden Herman, Taylor Putman, Jack Boren, Lauren Miller, Grant Boren, Rylan Day, Grayson Miller, Allison Day, and Dylan Day. She was also blessed with five great- great grandchildren, Braylin Rivera-Cherry, Collin Rivera, Korvyn Rivera-Bauers, Isaac Whallon and Ellie Nail as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Dennis Leek officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
